We bought our first Bunn about 8-9 years ago after someone brought me a fresh cup of great coffee in about 2 minutes. That Bunn has been used everyday for these past 8 years and we just bought a new one. It is a wonderful sturdy nice-looking pot.
Customer Review: Water leaks out of coffeemaker
I've had this coffeemaker between 2 and 3 years. The carafe started leaking when pouring after a short time, but I see that cleaning with a strong detergent would possibly have solved that problem. The coffeemaker is now discarded. Water started leaking out of the coffeemaker under the bottom and got worse until it was unusable. This is not acceptable for a unit that is no older than that and costs this much! A friend had a Bunn with glass carafe and said that hers developed a leak also.

We are using this coffee maker for a couple of years and never had any problem with it -- except as noted. Replaced the carafe a couple of times (due to breakage in the sink due to frequent cleaning -- I like my coffee brewing equipment clean). This is the point I am having problems with: it is very hard to clean the water reservoir of this coffee maker. I am talking about the compartment where you pour the water in for brewing. When comparing to a cup of coffee made by Starbucks, I always noticed some "old" flavor in the coffee I brewed on this machine. Finally discovered the there is quite an accumulation of coffee residue at the bottom of the water reservoir. It took some soaking and scrubbing in Drano, subsequent rinsing with ammonia and finally cleaning with detergent to get rid of the scum. Be careful and be your own judge, these are dangerous chemicals and are not intended for this particular application! After this cleaning my coffee tastes crisp, refreshing and delicious again. Being honest, most of the coffee makers must have this problem, I don't want to single out this particular model... Now that I have discovered and solved this smelly problem, I am looking for a coffee maker that is easier to clean and has stainless steel surfaces that come in contact with the water. Probably looking at more $$$ too. Anyone has a suggestion? Cheers, Zoltan
Customer Review: Not such a good cup of coffee
Ok loved this coffee maker at first. But then it stared leaking a bit. So after a few months of that and learning just to put the maker by the sink. Now it has died on me and the pump went out. I only had this maker for 6 months. Gee my last one that still works and I gave away was over 15 yrs old. I should of kept it. Now I am out $50 and I need a new maker.

The Capresso MT500 coffee maker is the best I've seen so far, and I have had some good ones. I like the way the top screws on firmly to hold heat in and unscrews a quarter turn for easy pouring (not dribbling) into your cup. I use cones a lot, but the metal cone is a great backup when I am out. Although the clam is 4 hours, I actual find a warm cup in there 6 hours later. And it looks nice.
Customer Review: Works as advertised
I have been using a coffee press for the past few years because I wasn't all that impressed with the automatic coffee makers and their "feature" of constantly heating the coffee once it has been brewed. I really hate the smell of coffee that has been left on a heater. I basically resigned myself to using a coffee press and placing this in a Thermos to keep hot. This works very well for me, but I recently visited a friend who had a coffee maker that brewed into a carafe. Duh! I did a pretty extensive review on the web and narrowed my choices to the Zojirushi EC-BD15 and the Capresso MT500. The Zojirushi is too tall to fit under my kitchen cabinets and I knew my wife wouldn't want a coffee maker anywhere but tucked discreetly under a cabinet (she hates coffee, which is o.k. because that leaves more for me). I bought the Capresso MT500 even though I had read that the coffee wasn't that hot for smaller brew sizes and that the lid was a bit funky. I followed the directions and preheated the carafe and brewed a pot using the 3-5 cup setting. The coffee came out great and was very hot. The second cup, about 2 hours later was definitely hot enough, and this was even after adding a lot of half and half from the fridge. So no complaints from me about the ability of the unit to make hot coffee, or the ability to keep that coffee hot. I have read some negative reviews about the lid, some mentioning that the "dot" on the lid is hard to see. I can see it just fine and don't have a problem with that. The flanges on the lid are a little on the thin side, but I don't think this will be a problem because I don't plan on cranking hard on the lid to close it. I do think I will buy a spare lid as a backup because if the lid breaks then you can't make any coffee (depending on just how the lid breaks). I did not install the charcoal filter because I use RO water. Plus, I don't want to pay for what looks to be a fairly overpriced sack of charcoal. I just turned the filter light off (per the instructions) and haven't given this another thought. If you really need filtered water then I think there are other options that are cheaper in the long run. So, nothing all too negative about this coffee maker. It looks great (I got the silver coffee holder model #441) and does a very good job.

Krups DuoThek 10-Cup Thermal Coffeemaker With free Decalcifier - FREE Shipping
Your spouse prefers a brewed cup of dark French Roast in the morning, while you prefer to finish off a whole pot of mild, lighter-bodied coffee during the course of the day. How to satisfy everyone? This dual coffeemaker has two independent carafes, filter holders, water chambers, and water level indicators so you can simultaneously brew up to 10 large cups of each persons favorite blend. The DuoThek is also great for offering both caffeinated and decaffeinated coffee at dinner parties or in a small office.Krupss special Deep Brew System employs a unique filtering action to enrich the flavor of any ground beans, and a double-walled filter preserves coffee aroma and keeps brewing at the optimum temperature. The controls on this coffeemaker are few and completely idiot-proof. They consist of separate illuminated power switches for each side of the coffeemaker and a button that slows the brewing cycle down when brewing less than three cups (works on the left side of the coffeemaker only). Each of the thermal stainless-steel carafes is double insulated to keep beverages hot for hours and preserve flavor. The carafes include plastic screw-top lids for additional heat retention and have a spout that ensures drip-free pouring from any angle. This coffeemaker uses paper filters and is covered by a limited one-year warranty. --Cristina VaamondeSaturday, April 11, 2009

Cuisinart® Coffee On DemandTM Coffee Maker -- Black
Model: COD-4000BWSAThe Cuisinart Coffee On Demand introduces coffee without the carafe! The simple "press to serve" level allows you to dispense coffee cup by cup from the double-wall reservoir, ensuring that your coffee is always hot. Coffee GaugeTM on the front of the unit lets you know how many cups are remaining. This unit brews up to twelve 5 oz. cups at a time.Customer Review: Works fine, just one wish list item
This is a great coffee maker overall. I'd love to see a stainless holding tank for the coffee in the next generation. It's certainly convenient! Just load the coffee maker with water, looking at the convenient gauge on the side for the right level. A little trick that many people do not seem to understand is that the coffee reservoir pulls out and doubles as a water pitcher. See the pouring spout? Yep, that's it! Add your basket (which takes a normal #4 filter), coffee, and turn the left knob to 'brew'. Turn the right knob to 'on'. The Cuisinart beeps when the coffee is ready. Push the lever, and get your drink on! This coffee maker is fast, makes very good coffee, and keeps it hot without the burnt taste. Want it ready at a certain time? No problem. The clock is easy to set, the auto on works well. The empty/full gauge is a very appealing feature.
Customer Review: Coffeetime convienance. . .
Did you ever wonder if the people who design these gadgets ever use their product? I am giving it a 4-star rating because it does make very good tasting coffee, however it has some flaws you just have to live with: Not necessarily in any special order so here goes: 1. Water inlet. You pour the desired water into a small cavity right next to the warmer section. Be careful not to spill water into the wrong place! Seems like it should be color coded so you can tell where the water goes. 2. The water guage is on the side kind of out of view. Should be on the front. 3. The clock is too small, difficult to read the numbers. 4. When you open the top lid condensation runs down the back of the unit. 5. There is a HOT button for 1-4 cups of coffee... what about having hot coffee no matter how many cups you make? I turn this on every time. Well overall I like my coffee maker, it is handsome on the counter and does a really good job of making delicious coffee. Cleaning the inside chamber is easy and you don't have to worry about a glass carafe.

Customer Review: great coffee
Nice product great for people who need a quick cup or have a number of different type of drinkers. Does a mean hot tea also.
Customer Review: Mixed feelings
Got this for Christmas and the gadget guy in me thinks it's cool. There's no doubt that it's simple and easy to use, though I'm not sure the point of a pre-set timer since it can heat up the water in <2 minutes and it's cooling in your mug the second it hits. I also question the cost of both the unit and the coffee. Forty-two cents isn't bad for a cup of great coffee, but I'm still experimenting and haven't hit that "great cup" just yet. Having gone through the sampler pack and a box of Newman's Extra Bold (that the wife got me), I'm still experimenting. Issues around the plastic waste generated by each of those k-cups. Note as well, tea from these units is weak due to it's fast brew system. Hot chocolate was similar, but may differ by maker.

Capresso 4460 Charcoal Water Filters for Capresso ST600 Coffeemaker, 6 Pack
Capresso 6-Pack Charcoal Water Filters for Capresso ST600 - Capresso 4460Customer Review: Capresso coffee maker
This is a very good product that also looks great. We have had no problems at all with it!
Customer Review: Pricey Filters!
These filters are designed for the Capresso ST600 only. Whether you choose to use them or not is optional - the coffee maker works fine without them. I bought them to remove the chlorine from my city tap water. According to Capresso, each filter is good for about six weeks or 80 pots of coffee. They work well, but are over-priced IMHO.

Ok, I know that this is meant to be a no-frills, simple coffee maker, but the quality of the coffee that it produces is just unacceptable. Like another reviewer wrote, it doesn't heat the water hot enough to make flavorful coffee. So unless you like warm, weak coffee, stay away from this machine! The spout on my carafe didn't leak, but the carafe, itself, was rather fragile. Terrible buy. I'm returning mine tomorrow.

I have had two of these coffeemakers over the last year, and I have to agree with the other reviewers. There are good features to this coffeemaker - freshly brewed coffee tastes very good, it's nice to keep it hot inside the coffeemaker, and it looks nice on your counter. HOWEVER, there are some major problems here. I haven't had "steam problems" mentioned by another reviewer, but the condensation from the lid definitely runs down the back of the coffeemaker (and right onto the cord) when you open it to clean it. The biggest problem we've had, however, is that if we make anything more than 8 cups of coffee the grounds overflow and go into the container that holds the coffee, then plug up the spout where the coffee is poured out into your cup. Not only does this leave grounds in your coffee, but occasionally it clogs the spout making it impossible to shut, so coffee just pours out - all over your counters, floor, and in our case, into the drawers under the counter too. First we tried a replacement filter, then Cuisinart sent us an entirely new unit. Same problem each time. On the positive side, Cuisinart's customer service has been very good, and they are again replacing our unit - this time with a different model.
Customer Review: Don't waste your money
We have now buried our THIRD Cuisinart 12-cup Coffeemaker. As the other reviewer said, they just stop working. The merchant has given replacements to this point, but we are actually tired of taking the item back, and don't want another bad machine. It has gotten almost embarrassing. Also, this coffeemaker can't be kept under cupboards or near curtains due to the steam. When you open the back to fill, the condensation runs down the machine and onto the countertop. It is hard to fill, hard to see where you are pouring when filling. The Auto-On function was very handy, and it did make fairly good coffee when it worked, it just won't keep working.

This is a very good product, blends well with the other Cuisinart products in our kitchen, is easy to program and use.
Customer Review: Cuisinart DCC-2200
The peer reviews on the Cuisinart left me hesitant in buying one. There is overall agreement on the results (good coffee), but the journey there appears to be a rough one. I've had the DCC-2200 for three weeks now. I can't find fault in the build of this coffee maker. Despite the stainless steel exterior, it is mostly plastic, but everything fits together reassuringly tightly. I think the looks are rather good - a first from a line of coffee makers that honestly look rather clunky before. The layout for the coffee filter and the water is fine. Comments about tight access to the water reservoir are largely exaggerated. I pour lefty and have no problem. The plastic is molded such that spilt water runs into the reservoir. The filter is in the front, giving easy access to add the coffee. I have one complaint about the setup: I hate interior water level marks. Where as some coffee makers have a transparent tube or window running up the reservoir so you can see how much water is in there, the 2200 requires you look down into the reservoir. It's an awkward arrangement on a unit that otherwise is ergonomically well thought out. You get a timer for scheduled brewing, a self cleaning cycle, a 4 cup brewing mode, and control over how long the heating plate stays on. Brewing cycles are longish, but near silent -- so silent, in fact, that a small beep is used to announce the end of the brewing cycle. Yes, the clock is small - it's to schedule brewing, not be the main clock in the kitchen. One very nice thing about it - the clock briefly retains settings if the unit is unplugged. Very good! Previously, I had complained about thinnish tasting coffee. A few friends dissed my choice of beans, so I switched to 2 different other beans, and yep, the full rich flavor is back. Ironically, both brands of beans are actually roasted by the same local company, but the difference in flavor is dramatic. All is forgiven, I'm very happy with the results now. The Cusinart DCC-2200 is a well built coffee maker. I wondered if it was going to be worth the $30 premium over more basic European brands. I think it is - this unit feels very solid, and more importantly, the coffee comes out great. Recommended.

Zojirushi EC-BD15 Fresh Brew Thermal Carafe Coffee Maker
Lots of folks dislike the burnt flavor that coffee gets when it sits in a glass pot over a heating element. To avoid this, coffee shops often brew right into large thermal pots to keep the coffee warm without it becoming overcooked. The Zojirushi Fresh Brew does that, too, but in home-sized batches. It looks great, too, with a glossy black body and stainless steel carafe and brew basket. To brew, lift the lid and swing the water outlet spout to one side while the filter is being loaded; the spout will return to its proper position when the lid is closed. A small red ball in the water gauge makes it extra simple to read. And an electronic clock module also serves as a timer that will start the brewer at a specified time. The carafe's lid is designed to be on during brewing, with a small cap to help keep the heat in after it's ready. The Fresh Brew also has a pause-and-serve function that stops the flow for 30 seconds while a cup of coffee is served.
To clean the brewer unit, use a solution of white vinegar and water, following the instructions in the accompanying booklet. The unit is not immersible. The exterior can be wiped with a damp soft rag; do not use abrasives or scouring pads. The filter reservoir is removable; clean with warm soapy water and rinse thoroughly. The coffee brewer measures 15 by 12 by 9 inches (includes carafe handle when unit is completely assembled), and it uses #3 cone-shaped disposable paper filters. The Fresh Brew comes with a detailed instruction booklet. Zojirushi guarantees its products with a one-year limited warranty. --Garland Withers
Customer Review: save your money!
They are out of their minds charging as much as they do for this piece of cheap junk. It does NOT brew hot coffee that stays hot. I'm pretty mad that I took a chance on this expecting so very much more. My old old Genvalia is far superior to this horrid machine. The Zoji looks pretty and the tag lines which describe it are slick and enticing but really - if you know coffee and appreciate it as much as I do - you will steer clear of this Chinese machine. I'm also wondering if the plastic is poisonous. No way of knowing is there? Save your ducets or buy a microwave with the Zoji because you are going to need it. Man am I ticked!
Customer Review: Very disappointed -- coffee goes cold fast
It's true that the coffee is kept hot in the pot as others claim, but the problem is once it's out of the pot. Even coffee poured right after brewing quickly gets cold. I can't explain it, but it's true, and it makes this purchase very disappointing. Also, the lid for the carafe is uncomfortable and difficult to turn every time you want a refill.

Rockline G30004W/6 #4 Cone Gold Screen Filter
Brew Rite #4 cone gold screen filter. Fits most 8 to 12 cup, cone style, coffeemakers. Filter is easy to clean and dishwasher safe.Customer Review: Works Perfectly, Worth the Extra
You could easily pay $20 or more for a gold cone coffee filter, but really, this BrewRite is all that you need. It's an advantage over paper because it's reuseable, easy to clean (you can hose it out with a sink sprayer, rinse, and you're done), and it does brew better tasting coffee than paper. I used to think there was no difference, but when a place I worked at started using one, I could tell. I've used this cone in my Braun FlavorSelect for a while now. With me brewing 3-5 pots a week, the filter lasts me about a year. I highly recommend it and I'll be buying more soon.
